A NINE-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer will embark on a lengthy fundraising bike ride to boost the stadium fund of his beloved Poole Town.

Connor Holloway’s condition affects his right arm and right leg – but that has not stopped the youngster from devising his own way of putting money into the Dolphins coffers.

On Sunday, Connor will aim to cycle 10 miles on a route from Sandbanks to Boscombe Pier and back.

This will be followed by a final stretch at Poole’s Tatnam ground, where Connor will ride a lap of the pitch just prior to Dolphins’ derby clash with local rivals Wimborne Town on Monday (11am kick-off).

Connor has already raised more than £300 for this event, which takes his recent fundraising for the Dorset club to more than £600.

His step-dad Tony Jacobs told Echo Youth Sport: “We previously did a 10-mile walk from Dean Court to Tatnam but Connor, because of his cerebral palsy, wasn’t able to do the full walk.

“Because one of my fellow fans and I are going to do a bike ride from Tatnam to Wembley in the summer – and Connor cannot do that – he has come up with this idea on his own.

“At the moment, we have pulled in just over £300 on this event already. Coupled with the last one, it is at about £600 in total so far.

“We are still getting people who are going to donate so that final figure will rise.

“The money will go towards funding the new ground and towards the new stand that is in place at Tatnam.”

Connor’s favourite Poole players are Michael Walker, Taffy Richardson and Dan Cann. The Milldown Primary School pupil is such a keen Dolphins fan that he prefers the likes of Richardson and Cann to Xavi and Lionel Messi.

Jacobs added: “People can talk about Manchester United and Chelsea, but he is just interested in Poole Town.

“He likes to play on his Xbox and is quite disgruntled that there is no Poole Town team on there. He’d rather be Poole Town than Barcelona!

“Connor’s first game was watching Poole Town in the FA Vase against Spennymoor and since then, he has been hooked.”
