GOALKEEPER Simon Evans will tomorrow face former club Hamworthy United just days after texting boss Simon Browne to tell him he would be leaving.
Evans, who joined Hammers after he was released by Dorchester earlier this season, has been reunited with ex-Magpies boss Ashley Vickers at Blackfield & Langley.
“I wasn’t pleased with the way it was handled but that’s football,” said Hammers boss Browne, ahead of their trip to Gang Warily (3pm).
“I was aware a seven-day approach had come in and was a bit annoyed with the timing of it.
“Simon phoned me on the Tuesday to tell me he would be staying and then sent me a text the next day to tell me he had changed his mind. I thought he would have had the decency to ring me.”
Shane Murphy, a late replacement for Evans after he had cried off due to illness ahead of Hammers’ 1-1 draw with Romsey a fortnight ago, will take over as number one at the County Ground.
Browne’s resources have been further weakened by the news striker Stuart Cannie will be ruled out for the rest of the season due to a broken foot.
Sam Lockyer returns from injury for the trip to the Waterside, although Aaron Stacey sits out Hammers’ Easter programme due to a two-match ban.

• Christchurch are down to the bare bones for tomorrow’s visit to Alton (3pm), while Bournemouth Poppies have a number of injury concerns ahead of tonight’s trip to Brading (7.45pm).
Priory duo Mark Smith and Marc Fairborther are both attending a wedding and Martin Harris has left Hurn Bridge to go travelling. Joe Kittle is injured, while Russell Cook is a doubt due to a fragile hamstring. Youth team duo Billy Walker and Richard Green, together with Jack Lovell, are added to the Christchurch squad.
Poppies, who travel to Hurn Bridge on Tuesday, are likely to give a late fitness test to Max Cream before they set sail for the Isle of Wight. He could join suspended duo Fawzi Saadi and Joe Byrne on the sidelines.

• Boss Glenn Burnett has described New Milton’s trip to Fawley as a “must-win game” for the Linnets (3pm).
Relegation rivals Hayling and Blackfield both chalked up surprise midweek victories to plunge Burnett’s men back in the mire.
Linnets: (from) Rowe, Donaldson, Stuart, Curtis, Case, Preston, Tanner, Moth, Desport, Graham, Holland, Morris, Breaker, Amey.
