DORSET warmed up for the Minor Counties season by thumping a Dorset League XI by 181 runs.

Batting first, Dorset got off to a sensational start, with openers Glyn Treagus (107) and Aaron Williams (49) racking up 98 for the first wicket.

Williams was dismissed by Eric Linge, who also removed Treagus.

But Josh Lawrence (71) and captain Tom Hicks (40) continued where Treagus and Williams had left off as Dorset finished their 50 overs on 297 for five.

Linge finished with figures of two for 57 from nine overs, with Keiran Price the other Dorset XI wicket-taker. Both Lawrence and George Marshall (1) were run out.

In reply, the Dorset XI made a steady start before Matt Thomas (24) and Pete Moxam (15) were dismissed by Tom Barber and Mark Wolstenholme.

Masoor Khan (34) and Tom Jacques (29) also showed promise before the match was halted by the light, the Minor Counties outfit prevailing via the Duckworth Lewis method.

Wolstenholme finished with figures of one for 19, with Barber (1-26), Simon Watkins (1-26) and Treagus (1-28) also among the wickets.
