JACK Satterley plundered a five-minute hat-trick as Verwood dished out an 8-0 hiding to hapless Wessex One rivals Amesbury at Potterne Park.
The 18-year-old fired the Potters 3-0 in front after just 13 minutes with an exquisite lob, an emphatic right-foot strike and a clinical penalty.
Victory saw Verwood go 11 points clear of closest pursuers AFC Portchester and a win in their final game of the season at Petersfield would guarantee them the title.
Potters boss Adie Arnold said: “Jack is a quality player and always works so hard. He deserved his hat-trick and to score three times in five minutes at any level takes some doing.
“We played some great football and scored some good goals. The title is in our hands and the only downside is that we’ve got to wait almost three weeks for our last game.”
Leading marksman Mike Haskell and Charlie Gajic both helped themselves to doubles, while Luke Homer completed the scoring after Verwood had led 6-0 at the break.
Potters: Lynch, Evans, Delaney, Kelly (Shepherd, 60), Anderton (Rose, 70), Homer, Gajic (Dear, 65), Webb, Dyer, Haskell, Satterley.
