MANAGER Simon Browne is targeting two more victories as his Hamworthy United team aim to continue their strong end to the season.
In-form Hammers made it seven wins in their past nine Wessex League matches by beating Downton 3-1 at the County Ground last night night.
First-half goals from Greg Horlock and man of the match Sam Lanahan put the hosts 2-0 up at the interval, with leading scorer Luke Burbidge adding a third shortly after the break.
Sam Lockyer scored a late own goal but boss Browne remained in positive mood after watching Hammers climb to sixth in the Wessex Premier, with two games remaining in their campaign.
He told the Daily Echo: “In the nine games we have played since we had our really bad run, we have won seven, drawn one and lost one.
“We wanted to finish the season on a high. If we can win our last two games, that would continue our fantastic form.”
Browne added: “It was a really good first-half performance last night and it was probably one of our best this season.
“Sam Lanahan was probably the stand-out performer in central midfield and he scored a good goal.
“The second half was a bit more even – Downton are a decent side and they had a bit more possession. But we scored a third and that killed off the game.”
Hammers: Lillington, Wyatt, Horlock, Haysom, Lockyer, Whitcher, Lanahan, Robinson, Corby (Yelland, 65), Chudy (Basing, 80), Burbidge. Unused subs: Pidgley, White, Voysey (g/k).
