DORSET’S Jack McGregor upstaged players two to three years older than himself to clinch the runners-up berth in the under-15 Torbay Open.
The 12-year-old from Lytchett Minster School beat local Devon favourite Callum Owens to reach the final.
It was a tall order, however, for Jack to topple six-foot Liam Silifant who won the boys’ title.
Jack was also runner-up in the under-12 Margaret Tipton tournament in Berkshire.
He was pipped to the post by his doubles partner Zach Russ, from Sussex, who edged it 15-14.
Jack and Zach had earlier teamed up to take the doubles title.
