LIONS chief David Dunn is wary of gate-crashers Weston and has warned Bournemouth’s party organisers: Don’t open the bubbly just yet.

Dunn has ordered his men not to get ahead of themselves as they bid to seal championship and promotion glory at Chapel Gate tomorrow (3pm).

A bonus-point win against Weston-super-Mare on home soil would see Lions claim the National Three South West title and elevation to the fourth tier of English rugby next season.

Bournemouth are resounding favourites to get the result |they need against ninth-placed Weston after thumping their rivals 63-3 when the teams met in December.

But Dunn insists there will be no complacency from his record-breaking team.

He told the Daily Echo: “Everybody is talking about the party and everybody is talking about four tries – and I am trying to keep everybody’s feet on the ground.

“There will be no champagne coming out anywhere until we get the game won.

“We are not expecting it to be easy and Weston-super-Mare are not going to come here and lie down and just let us enjoy our party.

“We are expecting a physical encounter. They are tough up front and they have the second or third best goal-kicker in the league, so we can’t afford to make any mistakes or give away any silly penalties, otherwise we will make the job difficult for ourselves.

“But, clearly, if we get a good start then they will do well to stay with us.”

Dunn is aware that the |pressure is on his team but says his players are a grounded group.

He added: “They are very good. We are telling them that they shouldn’t be reading or believing their own press.

“We have got a job to do. We are at the final hurdle and we have got to finish it off.

“When you are clearing a 147 maximum break in snooker, if you have cleared the other balls, the pink and black are easy on the face of it .

“But the pink is worth six points and the black is worth seven for a reason because, the further down the line you get, the more pressure there is.”

Dunn expects to have a full-strength squad to select from.
