POOLE ten-pin bowling star Verity Crawley hit perfection on her way to a gold medal in the European Youth Championships in Denmark.
The 17-year-old rolled her first ever perfect 300 in her first singles game in Aalborg and, despite tailing off during the initial run of six games, made the semi-finals after finishing in the top four.
The Bowlplex Poole bowler defeated hot favourite Daria Kovalova from Ukraine in her last-four clash, before seeing off Swede Jenny Wegner to claim the gold medal.
The Bournemouth School for Girls student became only the second girl to score a perfect 300 in the tournament’s history.
She said: “I started thinking about the 300 about halfway through the game but, luckily, I managed to keep going and it was a great feeling when it happened.
“I had never done it before and you don’t see too many perfect scores. People think the professionals just walk up and score 300 every time, but it doesn’t work like that.
“Certainly, at my age level, it has only been done a few times and only twice at the European youth event.”
Verity is funded solely by her parents and is keen to bring a sponsor on board to help with travelling and tournament entry expenses.
