GEORGE Griffiths scored five goals as Boscombe Albion celebrated promotion from Division Eight of the Bournemouth Youth League with a 10-0 thrashing of bottom side Broadstone.
Albion took the lead in the first half through Griffiths, despite Broadstone having the majority of the play. And the home side were made to pay for their lack of cutting edge as Albion ran riot after the break.
Immediately after the restart, Albion put together five quick passes and Patrick Spatiri was on hand to finish with a shot into the bottom left corner to double his side’s advantage.
Now firmly in control, Boscombe began to create chances at will with some neat passing moves and these were soon converted into goals.
Albion manager Bob Povey’s side showed why they will be playing at a higher level next season, as Griffiths added four more goals, Spatiri another two, and Jordi and Dylan Treadwell also added their names to the scoresheet.
Povey said it had been a “very satisfying” promotion campaign. He added: “The boys are still a work in progress and still have a lot to learn, but as coaches (himself and Tony Horne) we are very proud of the way the team has performed this season.”
Broadstone manager Andy Fripp said: “It was a shame the season finished in this way. It wasn’t a true reflection of us.
“On the whole, I can’t fault the work-rate of the players. They have improved immensely over the course of the season.”
