COACH Tim Collier believes Lions should target a mid-table finish when they begin life in National Two South next term.

Bournemouth closed their record-breaking National Three South West season with a thumping 57-5 away victory over Oxford Harlequins on Saturday.

The champions will now turn their attentions to planning for life at the next level.

Former Harlequins and Worcester lock forward Collier knows plenty about the task facing Lions in the fourth tier. And he is hoping the club can put in place the right structure to succeed.

He told the Daily Echo: “When you look at the league above, it is pretty tight. You can lose 18 games and still finish in mid-table.

“We need to analyse that and see what games we will target for our first year and which games we will take a less-stressful approach to because you can’t win every game.

“It is a big league, there is a lot of travelling and through travelling comes professionalism.

“When you travel away on a Friday night and get given food and drink, it is about the way you manage it.

“We will have to get the right structures in place and, hopefully, next year, if I am here, we will focus on mid-table. It is too early to say but that is what I would like to see.”
