WIMBORNE girls under-13s matched the club’s boys’ feat by securing a league and county cup double at Canford Arena.
It is the girls’ first season together in which they have won all 18 of their Dorset League games, scoring 192 goals.
Hollie Lemon put them on the road to cup glory by scoring the first goal against Weysport with a 15-yard ‘rocket’ shot. But league runners-up Weysport hit back to level the scores at the interval.
“The half-time team talk was all about keeping possession, passing triangles and enjoying the oc-casion,” said coach Tony Stuart.
The pep talk seemed to do the trick as Caitlin Steele restored their advantage after the break.
And the cup was in the bag when skipper Lucy Cuff exploited the open spaces as Weysport looked for an equaliser.
