THEIR biggest game of the season was a step too far for Wimborne’s threadbare squad in the Dorset under-15 county cup final at Canford Arena.
Injuries to two players in their 3-0 win over Rossgarth, three days earlier, and a further injury on the day of the final meant the Magpies were reduced to just eight players.
“It was decided to award the trophy to Poole and have an eight-a-side friendly match,” explained Wimborne boss Tony Stuart.
“We appreciate Poole’s understanding of our situation.”
Magpies reached the final des-pite only having 10 players for their semi-final with Weysport.
It was cup-holders Poole Town FC Wessex’s fifth successive county final.
Wimborne, meanwhile, are looking for more players at all age levels. For further details contact Tony on 07837 579980.
