GOALS from Jamie Davidson and Tom Jeffes were not enough to save Wimborne Town from a final-day defeat.
At the end of what has largely been a season of struggle for Magpies, the Cuthbury outfit brought down the curtain by suffering a 3-2 reverse at Thatcham Town.
Steve Cuss’s side went into the break 1-0 behind, before the hosts raced into a 3-0 lead in a dominant second half.
Strikes from Davidson and Jeffes, though, made the scoreline respectable.
Cuss told the Magpies club website: “It was a little bit disappointing because we wanted to end the season with a victory.
“It wasn’t our best performance on the day, but I’m not taking anything away from the players after the way they have been playing recently.”
• Late strikes from Liam Green and Gary Middleton saw Bashley register a final-day victory over Hemel Hempstead Town in the Premier Division.
Green was on hand to give the hosts the lead on 74 minutes, before Middleton doubled Bashley’s advantage eight minutes from time.
