JUST one month after racing his first duathlon, Richard Horton (Primera/Specialized) won the European junior sprint title at the weekend.
The Winton-based 18-year-old won the national junior title in his first race last month and looks to be a real talent in multi-sport.
Horton (pictured) clocked 57.10 for the 5km run-20km bike-2.5km run at Horst in Holland, beating Dutchman Jorik van Egdom by just four seconds.
European junior triathlon champion Matthias Steinwandter, from Italy, was forced to settle for the bronze medal.
Former Bournemouth Jubilee Wheeler Horton has been successful on the bike and recently won the Poole Park 5km run.
Horton has also been working hard on his swimming and will make his debut in triathlon later this year. He also runs for Poole Athletic Club.
The former pupil of Winton School for Boys and Twynham School is set to join Loughborough University this autumn.
European victory gave Horton an automatic qualification place for the World Junior Championships at Nancy, France, later this summer.
