Cherries star Mathieu Baudry has taken a swipe at former boss Lee Bradbury following comments regarding his recovery from injury.

Defender Baudry endured a frustrating campaign and was sidelined for more than five months due to a persistent hamstring problem.

Bradbury, speaking to the Daily Echo in November, said the Frenchman had “pushed himself when probably he shouldn’t have” and had “learned from it and has been completely honest with the physio and the medical staff”.

An article published yesterday on the club’s official website said Baudry had been “accused of lacking patience” in his bid to recover from his hamstring injury and added that the player felt the comments were “unfair”.

Baudry was quoted as saying: “When you’re injured, it’s not easy and you feel like you’re a little bit forgotten. When I played, I thought I performed and, if I didn’t get injured, I would still be playing.

“I can’t change myself and I want to work hard. I heard some stuff saying I was injury-prone and it really hurt me but it was just one injury that we were struggling to find the reason behind. Now I know it and I have no fear and will keep working hard to stay fit.”

Baudry, who is waiting to discover whether he will be offered a new contract by Cherries, spent the final two months of the season on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge and helped the club preserve its Football League status.

The 24-year-old, discussing his future at Seward Stadium, said: “I like the club but I don’t think anyone really knows what will happen.

“It’s a transitional time for the club and I am waiting to hear what they expect from me. I am 24 and I want to be on the pitch so I can show what I can do. I am going away on holiday and we will see when I get back.

“I have done what people have asked of me. I have been injured and have done my best to come back. They told me to go out on loan, I went on loan and I think I did my job.”
