CAPTAIN Scott Currie netted twice as St Aldhelm’s Combined wrote a new chapter in the school’s record books by lifting the prestigious Pitman Cup.
His double, coupled with a goal from Andrew Mbofana, ensured the team would become the first from year six to win the trophy in the school’s history.
A Dorset Schools FA County Under-11 Cup competition, St Aldhelm’s edged to a narrow 3-1 victory over Broadstone Middle in a hard-fought final.
Mike Brennan, head of PE at St Aldhelm’s where Neil Revell is the head teacher, said: “It was a huge achievement from all the boys involved in the year-six football team. This is the first time in the school’s history that a year six team has won the Pitman cup.
“Since September, when the first round of the cup started, the boys have played matches against schools from across Dorset and have represented the school fantastically well, both on and off the field.
“The hard work and commitment shown by the players in training and matches has certainly paid off and this in an excellent achievement for all of them.
“A huge thank you must go to all the parents who helped with transport at certain times in the season and their support from the sidelines.”
