ALANIA Lawton produced the stand-out performance in winning the first Purbeck Runners’ Equalizer race of 2012, held on Studland Beach.
The 11-year-old made history with a five-minute winning margin, the biggest in Equalizer history.
Two more debutants received top-three prizes. The ever-improving Simon Carvisiglia was the runner-up just piping another 11-year-old Lily Cooper, who was an excellent third.
There was a record turnout of runners and Alania was the 10th different Equalizer winner in the same number of races.
The club’s social secretary Tish Alberry said: “What a fantastic event it was.
“All our runners did ever so well, many producing personal best performances. We are ever so proud of Alania and Lily. At 11-years-old, they ran so well and quite literally have the world at their feet.”
The Equalizer is a five-kilometre handicapped route on the sand on Studland Beach. The staggered setting off times are based on past race performances and allow all members an equal chance of winning.
