Our team has a great set-up here in Weymouth and we can now really focus our attention on training and building towards the Games.
We have just completed our third week back on home waters and it is always easy when we are here. We have got everything we need and that means we are able to just get on with business.
We have been here for the past couple of years to try to ensure everything was in place for this summer more than anything. That preparation has allowed us to get used to the surroundings and we haven’t had to put too much work into all the logistics recently.
The RYA have a great set-up down here as well so we have all the support staff ready to help us out.
It is great for us to be able to get out on the water and in the gym, knowing that everything else is sorted.
In terms of our training, we had a week with the Russian team. That was great because they are very good – quick and well drilled.
This week, we have had our own training partners down here so we have been doing a bit more in-house stuff and we have been able to look into the details of tactics and manoeuvres a bit more.
Our regime now sees us spending between an hour and an hour-and-a-half in the gym before heading out on the water for one longer session or two shorter ones. We have a debriefing in the middle and at the end of the day and then try to get a bit of rest and recovery before the next day begins.
Amid all of this, we hope to find time to keep you updated on our progress. Thanks for your support.
