SKIPPER Scott Barlow felt Bournemouth had been architects of their own downfall following their 17-run defeat at the hands of Division One rivals Totton & Eling.
Bournemouth paid the penalty for spilling two vital catches as Dave Taylor (83) and Sam Walker (57) both profited from errant fielding to see the Eels to 210 for eight.
And although Josh Lawrence (87) and Nick Evans (33) had the Lions on course to reach their target, Darron Augustus (5-46) ensured they would be stopped at 193.
Barlow, the pick of the Bournemouth bowlers (3-47), said: “We let ourselves down and it wasn’t as if we were outplayed. We made mistakes and they cost us dearly. Catches win matches and it hurt us because we didn’t take our chances.”
n Luckless Simon Beetham received little support as Lymington crashed to an 88-run defeat at St Cross.
Although Beetham (6-51) was on top form with the ball, Charlie Esson (87) and Jack Jenkins (64) ensured St Cross would pile up 268 for eight.
And although Glyn Treagus (33) and Ali Jaffer (59) put on 100, Matt Perry-Lewis (8-44) polished them off for 180.
