SCOTT Malone’s proposed switch to Millwall is understood to hinge on Josh McQuoid agreeing to move in the opposite direction.
Malone was yesterday believed to have met with Lions manager Kenny Jackett and chief executive Andy Ambler to discuss terms.
The 21-year-old is understood to have flown back from a holiday in Spain to meet Jackett and Ambler at a hotel near Gatwick Airport.
And although sources suggest Malone may have agreed terms, the move is believed to rest on McQuoid finalising a deal to join Cherries.
When contacted by the Echo last night, McQuoid politely declined to comment.
While a fee of around £750,000 is understood to have been agreed, neither club has spoken about the proposed transfer.
Cherries boss Paul Groves was unavailable for comment yesterday but an interview request made by the Daily Echo has been granted for today.
Millwall, meanwhile, on their official website, published a statement – entitled Fact or Fiction – which included a curious health warning. It read: “Feed your habit if you like, but don’t believe everything you read, unless it’s here!”
Malone joined Cherries from Wolves in January for a fee of around £150,000, while McQuoid left Dean Court for Millwall in a £515,000 deal in January 2011.
