I believe that London 2012 is going to be a good stepping stone for volleyball and a launch pad to get it more into the public eye.
Over the past five years, the sport’s profile has grown enormously through the work that Volleyball England have been doing. That’s been great to see.
We have helped with regards to the legacy aspect and getting volleyball out there and known.
With the Olympics this summer, a lot more people will see volleyball either on television or in newspapers.
Quite a lot of the time, people come to watch their first game and instantly fall in love with it because it is a very exciting sport to watch. It is very dynamic, powerful and different to quite a lot of other sports.
If the people of Great Britain see a bit more volleyball – which will happen this summer – then they might start thinking it is a really good sport and that they want to get involved or watch some more games.
The aim of our team is to get out of the group stage and into the quarter-finals.
That is a tough goal but it is realistic. To achieve that, every player will need to play their best volleyball consistently through the whole time we are at the Olympics.
I hope to keep you informed of our preparations as we continue with our build up.
