CHRIS Holder moved to within six points of the world championship lead after finishing third in the Swedish Grand Prix in Gothenburg tonight.
The Pirates spearhead completed his qualifying rides on 12 points, with only the in-form Nicki Pedersen in front of him on the leader board.
But Pedersen was excluded from his semi-final for wiping out Thomas H Jonasson, while Holder cruised into the final with a victory in semi-final number two.
But in a huge shock, Freddie Lindgren, who had only racked up seven points from qualifying and scraped into the semi-finals, claimed the Grand Prix win by keeping Holder and Greg Hancock at bay in the final.
Holder almost passed reigning champion Hancock in a photo finish on the line for second place, but the American held on.
Pirates' captain, who finished as the leading scorer in Gothenburg, is now fourth in the overall standings on 52 points - six behind Hancock who leads the way on 58.
