THE ASA South West Relay Championships at Millfield turned into a gold rush for Seagulls and their team-mates from Bourne-mouth Collegiate School swimming academy.

Their squad qualified 24 teams for the 16 finals and won 50 per cent of the gold medals on offer plus four silver and three bronze medals.

Seagulls were at their most dominant in the girls’ 13-14yrs 4x50m relays in which they won four of the six available medals.

Bethany Folland, Jessie Foster, Beth Aitchison and Maisie Gormley won gold in the medley (2:07.21) with the B team of Emma Garland, Kathy Rogers, Bethan O’Hara and Leana Galton taking the bronze (2:14.02).

There was a repeat of the medal placings in the freestyle (1:54.19 and 2.00.06) in which O’Hara and Folland swapped teams and Eve Goldsack replaced Rogers in the B team.

The 13-14yrs boys’ team of Andrew Botros, Peter Gallagher, Zak Aitchison and Jamie Holmes also recorded a golden double in their medley and freestyle relays (2:03.36 and 1.52.03).

In the 11-12 age group the girls’ team of Zoe Gannaway, Bea Brett, Stella Cookson and Grace Kingsley took double gold, winning the medley in 2:19.09 and the freestyle in 2:02.46.

In the equivalent boys’ events, Jack Arnell, Matt Folland, Christian Tai and Nathan Wickens took a silver in the freestyle (2:08.92) but went one better in the medley to take the gold in 2:24.64.

In the 15 and over age group, the boys’ team of Cianan Mann, Dan Walker, Chris Gannaway and Darren Price broke the 1:40 barrier to win the final in 1.39.31.

They also came second in the medley (1.53.05).

In the girls’ events in this age group, Rachael Awcock, Georgia Rides, Jodie Hake and Beth Kingsley picked up double silvers in the medley (2:18.92) and freestyle relay (2:03.57).

The 9-10yrs boys’ team of Goldsack, Jacob Hara, Joe Noyce and Mikey Rides rounded off the medal tally with bronze in the medley in 2:53.34.
