A CRUCIAL third-wicket stand of 85 between Damian Shirazi and Ali Jaffer steered Lymington to a four-wicket win over Division One new boys Ventnor.
Simon Beetham (3-19) had earlier ripped through the Ventnor top order before Craig Ervine (2-27) helped restrict them to 167 for nine.
Shirazi (49) remained unbeaten and stood firm with Jaffer (44) as Lymington reached a revised target at 146 for six from 39 overs.
• A sixth-wicket stand of 86 between Nick Baker and Luke Webb proved in vain as Bashley suffered a five-wicket defeat against Havant.
Baker (53) and Webb (49) helped Bash close on 194 for nine after they had slumped to 73 for five (Neil Thurgood 32).
However, although Kevin Nash (2-49) and Sean Terry (2-43) were among the wickets, Havant eased to 198 for five (Peter Hopson 57).
• Captain Ryan Beck led from the front as New Milton registered an impressive 77-run win at Hartley Wintney in Division Two.
Beck (95) helped New Milton reach 225 for eight before he also starred with the ball (3-37) as the hosts were out for 148 (Lee Beck 4-23, Dan Loader 3-25).
