ANDONI Iraola admits he does “hate” the fact the transfer window will remain open until after the Premier League season has already begun.

Cherries are on the lookout for additions, but are likely to have to wait until nearer the September 1 deadline to conclude their business.

Prior to that, Iraola’s men will face league games against West Ham United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as a Carabao Cup clash.

Asked if he enjoys the transfer window, Cherries’ boss said: “As coaches we hate when the market is open and the competition is going.

“In August you have three games and there are players training with you who maybe are not going to finish with you, others you don’t have, others who don’t know what they are going to do or where they are going to play.

“For us, it is much better when the market closes, you know the players you have, you can do your own planning.

“But it is the same for every coach, for every club and we will try to do it as best we can.”

Iraola’s first competitive game as a head coach in England is fast approaching, with Cherries hosting West Ham on August 12.

Discussing his excitement ahead of the new campaign, the former Rayo Vallecano boss said: “This happens every single season, especially when you arrive at a new team, the excitement I have right now.

“You prepare everything very well, we see all the games of West Ham, you see all the set-pieces.

“But at the end, the moment is about how you arrive, how the players arrive, how we can solve the mistakes we have as soon as possible. We are trying to do this.”

Asked what he has learnt about his squad in his first month of working with them, the Spaniard added: “Overall I knew more or less them as players, I didn’t know them as people.

“I am starting to know the person, where we can use them, who understands the concepts better, who has more difficulties.

“It is a matter of time and knowing each other and these kind of games, I think they help us a lot with these things.”
