POOLE rally driver Joseph Duffy has been named the best driver in his class after claiming the Circuit Rally Championship Class E title for the 2023/24 season.

Duffy, who only took up rallying last year, built on a second-placed finish in 2022/23 to finish first in his class in his first full season competing.

Despite missing three races, Duffy finished atop his class with five first-placed finishes from six races.

Overall he also claimed ninth place in the Circuit Rally Championship with his Lotus Elise, a car that is turning heads in the rallying scene for its rarity and impressive performances.

Duffy is joined in his Lotus by older brother Daniel as his navigator.

Away from racing, Duffy is a local businessman who runs Bournemouth Cars and Follow Frank Camper Hire, but he is now looking to take his racing career to the next level.

Duffy told the Daily Echo: “The past year has been nothing short of extraordinary, with a perfect finishing record and victories in our class at most events, culminating in a championship win.

“Being recognized as one of Motorsport News' top five drivers of the year was the ultimate honour.

“The events we participate in are fiercely competitive, receive extensive media coverage, and draw significant crowds at some of the nation’s premier circuits.

“Our Lotus has performed superbly, and we are supported by an exceptional team.

“We are now seeking new sponsorship partners to help us reach new heights. Our plans include upgrading our car and competing in an additional championship next year, along with participating in new events such as those at Isle of Wight, Castle Combe, Jersey and Barbados.”
