VINNIE Foord says it felt “unreal” to be part of his first 5-1 in Poole Pirates colours.
The 18-year-old held off the challenges of Alfie Bowtell and Jacob Hook to finish second in heat eight of Poole’s 55-35 win over Plymouth Gladiators at Wimborne Road, with Tobias Thomsen out in front.
Reflecting on one of the standout moments of the night, which pushed Poole’s lead from six points into double figures, Foord said: “I was absolutely buzzing.
“To go from falling off in every meeting in the Championship so far to not falling off and then getting a paid win with Toby, it’s unreal.”
Asked about advice he has received to try and boost his scores for Poole, Foord explained: “They’ve told me I’ve got four laps to do it and just to chill out on the bike.”
Foord was returning to action having missed Poole’s last meeting due to a wrist injury.
He was drafted in at reserve to replace Max Perry last month and has now totalled 3+2 from 10 rides across three meetings for his new club.
Foord will look to add to his tally when Poole go to Redcar Bears in the SGB Championship tomorrow (7.30pm).
