I WAS absolutely flabbergasted to see the poster outside St Mary's Church in Ferndown.
The poster has the following message: marriage = 1 x male and 1 x female.
Whilst I fully appreciate that SOME Christians believe that the Bible refers to marriage in this way, I cannot believe that the Church are deliberately provoking a reaction with an issue that many feel very strongly about.
It is no wonder when these frankly old-fashioned values are being displayed with such prominence that the Church has dwindling numbers, particularly with the younger generations.
If they want to attract families into the fold, they are going about it in entirely the wrong way.
The vast majority of children (including my own) are brought up to understand that love is never wrong and that we should treat everyone the same, regardless of colour, creed, sexuality, disability, etc.
This poster is, in my opinion, offensive as it is belittling the relationships that many good people have been lucky enough to find.
