WHILST we are all agog at the exciting prospect of a butterfly farm by the beach in Durley Chine (Daily Echo, January 29), I do wonder at the breadth of its appeal among prospective holiday makers, let alone the long-suffering, tax-paying citizens of the borough.

The car park is already jammed solid on sunny days, so where will the butterfly fanciers park?

It is well known to all, except perhaps the tourism office, that tourists do not go to the beach when it is wet and windy, especially if they have to pay to park in order to get drenched.

If such a project is to go ahead surely a site can be found in the gardens, a much more natural environment and within walking distance of the hotels and all the other attractions the town has to offer.
