CAN anyone from Poole Council traffic department explain why, in the whole length of Alder Road, from Ashley Road to Wallisdown Road and in all the side turnings, there is not one disabled parking place, and only two areas on Alder Parade where anyone can park?
Also, now it seems that Network Rail, in closing the rail crossing on the High Street, is also discriminating against the disabled as well as parents with prams and push chairs.
Whenever I visit the Dolphin Centre I am able to hire a mobility scooter so that I can get down the High Street to visit the shops I need.
During the time the rail crossing will be closed I will have no reason to visit Poole High Street or, indeed the Dolphin Centre.
Surely it is not beyond the intelligence and imagination of those responsible for this stupid and impractical decision to consider carrying out the necessary work at night?
It seems to me that by closing the crossing, there will be a great loss of passing trade for the businesses left isolated on either side.
To get to the other side, whichever that is, one would have to park firstly in the Dolphin Centre car park, carry out shopping on that side, then leave and go around the area and park in Sainsbury's, thus doubling the parking cost.
If this is not discrimination, can someone tell me what is?
