YOUR regular correspondent Mr Geoff Cooper seems to have one aim in life, and that is to find something to criticise Bournemouth council about!
What can he possibly object to in the proposed Butterfly Farm for empty land at Durley Chine? This will provide an interesting and educational diversion for young and old alike and would be open in bad weather as well as good – just the all-weather facility that residents and visitors have been crying out for over several years.
As far as the “hard-pressed taxpayers of Bournemouth” are concerned, they need have no worries, as this is not a council venture, and will be run commercially by private operators – though, of course, our residents as well as visitors will be able to enjoy what it has to offer.
Of course, the car park will be full on the hottest summer days, but on all other days, throughout most of the year, this attraction will provide a delightful place to enjoy an hour or two in a stunning setting near the beach, with a café and excellent facilities.
I really think that our tourism bosses should be congratulated on achieving this unique coastal butterfly farm at no cost to taxpayers, and that it will be much appreciated by all who use it.
