THE proposed 50mph speed limit on the A31 is a nonsense.

Very few drivers pay any attention to the existing 70mph limit, so why does the authority think they will change?

Look at the experience of the A34 round Oxford. They have the same system there.

Do the drivers comply? No. Again the system is used on the A1 around Newcastle.

It brings the traffic to a standstill.

There are two junctions, similar to Ringwood. Drivers joining the A1 use their right turn signal and believe it gives them the right to just drive straight on to the A1. It does not.

As a result, frustrated drivers constantly swap lanes. As for the crawler lane proposed, this only works on three lane roads.

One answer to the Ringwood problem, would be to close the exit from Ringwood, outside the Fish Inn.

Customers to the Inn would find visiting and leaving a much safer experience.
