WHAT is happening to Christchurch Planning?
They recently refused Morrisons from developing the site in Stony Lane.
This would have brought people, money and much needed jobs into Christchurch.
Yet on January 31 they passed plans for a second warehouse for Kondor, riding rough shod over the residents’ plea that the building is too high (approx 50') and too near our properties (approx 150ft from our back walls).
Although we sent letters, emails and had a representative speak at the meeting, the plans were passed on a vote of 3 to 3 with the Chairman having the casting vote. We do not think our request unreasonable and suggested that the building be a little less high and a few feet further away.
The latter could easily be achieved by re-locating the present car/bike park to the rear of both buildings and moving the second warehouse into the space of the old car park, thus giving those few extra feet needed to allow us residents more privacy, sun/ambient light.
The height could be lowered by having a flat roof instead of the pitched one now planned. We are not asking for this development to be refused, just that the plans be altered to take into account our worries. Is this asking too much?
