HOW anyone can write letters along the lines claiming that nuclear power is safe is to me a total nonsense. Nuclear waste is deadly.
This planet has earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, thunderstorms, etc. The actual plates which make up the earth crust, move.
There is no safe storage for spent nuclear waste.
Some other countries have put on hold their plans for any more nuclear power stations.
Therefore, in my opinion, so should the UK. I agree windfarms on their own are not the answer, but should be at least part of the mix.
I have mentioned previously, why not attach solar panels to the turbine pillars? I expect there might even be an opportunity to obtain wave power at the same time.
I am no scientist or engineer, but just think that not too long ago a mobile phone was just the imagination of the likes of Star Trek. Indeed, computers themselves.
Also what about falling man-made space debris? Let alone asteroids hitting our planet.
