Looking online for cheap flights from Bournemouth I was thrilled to note Ryanair’s competitive offers for flights starting soon.
Whilst some grumbled about Ryanair’s flights commencing increasingly later year on year, few were concerned about Blue Islands’ cessation.
It is regrettable that Blue Islands, despite using more attractive planes than previous operators, fell foul of the Condor ferry debacle at Weymouth.
This resulted in convenient low cost travel to the Channel Islands, by ferry with a car, from Poole.
The airport car parking drop-off charge cannot be blamed, if more than two passengers are dropped it equates to no more cost than a mug of tea!
If potential passengers do not use the airport, airlines cannot be expected to run flights “just in case”, it’s not like a subsidised bus service.
So let us become more pro-active, encourage more airlines in and support our local airport or lose them completely.
