READING Snapshots of the Past – a sign of the times – (Echo Feb 2) informing that Animal Aid local branch was founded by Lilliput woman, Mrs Anne Peters, brought back memories of this warm, compassionate woman who lived in Pottery Road with Alastair, her dog.
I remember in 1978, I was a student nurse in training at Kings College Hospital, London along with Claire, Anne’s daughter.
Claire would drive us back to Poole on weekend leave and back again on Sunday nights in her white Mini. We would leave her home where Anne and Alastair would wave and woof us off at the garden gate.
Although Anne is no longer with us, she leaves behind her legacy of compassion and care for animals in the continuing work of Animal Aid, and with those who remember her and her companion Alastair, who wave and woofed goodbye to those young student nurses of long ago.
