I WRITE in to the Echo on the matter of pavements being blocked by vehicles.
We are retired and live in Upper Parkstone. My husband is in a wheelchair.
Most days we go up to the shops along Jubilee Road next to the car park but some days it is very difficult.
Many of us are older, disabled, and some with guide dogs, and mums with children in pushchairs.
It is very difficult and upsetting when blocked by a vehicle on the pavement.
We have read in the Echo many times motorists commenting on the Poole camera car and angry they have been fined.
One we noted was in Jubilee Road in an Echo article last November some people were angry they had been fined when parked outside In-Excess.
But then on the Echo website many agreed it was right to fine someone parking on double yellows with no loading or unloading.
Our point now is to say we very much support the work of the camera car to keep our pavements clear of parked vehicles. In all fairness in the case of busy Jubilee Road there is a 30p an hour car park 30 yards from In-Excess.
If the people had used the car-park last November and carried their goods 30 yards they would have had no problem.
We think we very much need a campaign to heighten awareness of pavement parking and safety and access for pedestrians. And we say thank you to Poole Council staff for all their work to stop what is often the most selfish blocking of pavements without any thought for how that affects anyone else.
H SCOTT, Dunford Road, Parkstone, Poole
