I WAS born in Bournemouth a little over 60 years ago and although now living in Poole, still consider myself as a Bournemouthian.
I took my grandson to the aquarium by the pier recently and was filled with despair at the desperate state of the facilities which make up Bournemouth seafront.
What opportunities have been wasted over the years. The Pavilion has a nice little theatre but cannot really present major entertainment.
The BIC is a depressing looking building which is under-used and has no soul and I cannot find the words to describe the Imax building fiasco.
Add to this the demise of the Winter Gardens and the Surf Reef saga and one starts to see a pattern.
The actual seafront buildings are dreadful, the highlight being a two-storey toilet block! Surely it is time to take the bull by the horns and allow someone with vision to put the town into the 21st century.
