I DO hope that Christchurch council will see sense and pass the revised planning application for Christchurch Hospital so it can remain at the centre of health services for the community. In the present financial climate it is extremely short-sighted to refuse a plan that will help fund a modern nursing home as well as a GP surgery, pharmacy etc for the benefit of the local community – young and old.
It is no good eulogising about the dilapidated H-Block building at the front as it is not a listed building and is not suitable for a 21st century NHS.
The workhouse history can be retained in a visual display within the new hospital.
I have worked at Christchurch Hospital for 18 years and know how important it is to retain its services for the surrounding area.
Please support the planning applications for Christchurch Hospital or lose it.
