BOURNEMOUTH council's efforts to install car park charges around the town is another desperate grab for much needed income.

As far as the town centre arrangements are concerned it must surely contribute another nail in the coffin of our beleagured town traders.

As the recession bites deeply into most people’s pockets, maybe a better way to raise council revenues would be for councillors and certain town hall staff to pay for their parking at St Stephen’s Road and also open it up fully to other users.

Everyone else has little option but pay if they drive to work, yet our elected representatives award themselves this perk whilst enforcing hardship on others.
