The internet can’t help me, but I expect some of your readers can.
I am trying to make a model of Poole Railway Station which can’t be done entirely from photographs.
I need to know the location of different rooms and uses, as the station master’s house was in a separate building. There was the station master’s office, booking hall, waiting room, goods office, porters’ room, toilets on the side to Wareham or Wimborne and a WH Smith bookstall etc on the London-bound side. Various chimneys indicate where heating was located. A machine issued 1d platform tickets and an aluminium ticker tape machine whereby you could print out names etc.
The station was demolished and rebuilt with the arrival of the Towngate Bridge and we also lost the Station Hotel.
I can be contacted at brian.galpin@ntlworld.com and would be most grateful for any memories of the old place when Charles Dominey was station master.
