YET another spate of horrific and senseless incidents on our roads and not a boy racer in sight.

Surely now it’s time for re-tests or at least periodic awareness tests for drivers after five years of driving and then yearly.

To cover the cost of this we can abolish paying to display that circle of paper in the windscreen and implement an annual charge of say £200 per motorist, half of which could contribute towards the governing of such tests.

Quite obviously the introduction of these tests would greatly reduce the number of vehicles on the roads, meaning less strain on the NHS and emergency services and easing congestion. Come on, you know it makes sense.
