READING in the Daily Echo of problems with Blue Badge disabled spaces at Castlepoint shopping car park, surely someone in authority should notice that there are insufficient spaces. It is exactly the same at Sainsbury’s in Poole. We recently managed to get four extra spaces provided but even with them there were six cars waiting. When disabled shoppers see cars waiting they turn right and find a normal space, we know, we do.
It is so disheartening to find it full up. I don’t care what the allocation should be. With a rapidly ageing population, it is out of date, and any manager should make sure the disabled are not inconvenienced by having to queue, especially in recent hot weather. Recently contractors working for Poole Council on two tennis courts over a six week period in Poole Park cost approximately £40,000 (part government grant). Last week we saw two players playing tennis on them.
Again, recently, Poole Council took one day changing white lines to mark the four disabled spaces at the above costing approximately £3,000. They are used by approximately 20 disabled every day, which was the best value.
At least six more spaces are required on the last parking column before the disabled bay.
