WITH regard to your story ‘Volunteers trying to rebrand town’ (July 5), having been born in Ferndown 70 yrs ago I feel that every planning committee and town council that ever had any say in what happened to the town sold out to any developer that was proposing to build nursing homes or retirement flats. There was never any thought given to the younger generation and I feel that unless you have places for young people to live and settle in the town, then the whole scheme is dead in the water.
As for the Barrington Theatre, that has been a drain on local council tax payers since it opened. It should be a voluntary run theatre. If the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne can do it, then why not the Barrington? You will not turn around the fortunes of Ferndown when you can’t walk 20 yards without passing a nursing home or retirement flats
