SO the farce begins again. “No cycling in July and August, 10am-6pm” along the seafront past our beach hut. Enjoying this gorgeous weather we watched 90 per cent of owners cycling – I did a sample count – totally ignoring the rule. I don’t want an accident to highlight this problem. What sane person would mix young children, many just able to walk, with bicycles travelling at over 10mph weaving in and out of the crowds?
The zig zags are another problem; it is very intimidating to see a cyclist hurtling towards you as you stagger up the slope, worse still when they speed up behind you brushing your shoulder as they race for the top.
I recommend the use of the seafront and zig zags by people and cyclists be revisited. Whatever rules are decided they must be enforced and staff given powers to enforce them.
There has to be a way to mix cyclists and walkers safely together.
