THE council can soon find £87,000 to provide standing space in the ex Imax site, but the provision of seats on our promenade etc is passed over, year after year. I support your correspondent’s view, Mr Plascott (Echo, July 3) when he expressed disappointment at seeing the lack of seats on our promenade.
This fact does not harmonise with the spirit of the article published in Saturday’s Echo that Bournemouth is ‘one of the happiest places to live in, one of the most popular places in England, has something for everybody.’ It goes on to advise ‘have a stroll along Bournemouth’s promenade’, but the article doesn’t quote the intense paucity of seats, nor the element of racing cyclists tearing in and out of the walking pedestrians.
To the council portfolio holder I appeal: In your improving Bournemouth’s front etc, please include more seats, in the gardens, promenade and all areas where the crowds congregate. Take note of Llandudno where its wide seaside front has its promenade accommodated from end to end with adequate seating.
