THE sowing of wild flower seeds on grass banks by Christchurch Council to save on grass cutting costs makes sense and can be appreciated by most people – but it is not entirely original.
Sarah Raven, the TV gardener/presenter/author, persuaded Leeds City Council to do just that to their grass verges some years ago. It proved to be a very popular and pleasing project and, of course saved thousands of pounds in labour, machinery and fuel.
