I WAS intrigued by Poole’s Sports Day that was held on Sunday July 28 in Poole Park. It was fantastic. Being disabled makes it a lot more difficult to find teams in the Dorset area, let alone Poole.
But today I found Dan Cook and his wheelchair racing, Gary Hawkins and Kite Right Flying and Michael Dronyk with the wheelchair basketball court.
I was very impressed and have to also say a big thanks to the council for allowing such a fantastic event for everyone to try things. My children loved trying out the tennis, slack lines, wheelchair basketball and so much more.
So, occasionally it’s good to tell the council they have done something right and praise them. So, can you make this an annual event please? You've got the ball rolling, now let's keep it going.
If anyone is interested in making up a wheelchair basketball team, give us a shout, or if you know of one in Poole, can you send me the details please?
