HAVING read Arron Hendy’s recent article about the Dorset School of Acting Youth Theatre’s production of Romeo & Juliet, I was delighted to read about the versatility of the students as the previous week had seen their 11-15 year olds perform Bye Bye Birdie at the Pavilion Dance Theatre in Bournemouth. Fantastic to see that one minute they can produce quintessential musical theatre and within a week gritty and accessible Shakespeare.
The production of Bye Bye Birdie was entertaining, filled with wit and humour; however I was most impressed with the quality of the performance, production and the professiona-lism of the whole company.
Well deserved praise goes to the principals James Bowden and Laura Roxburgh for obtaining the very best out of their enthusiastic young students.
I look forward to their next performance and would heartily recommend the company to anyone.
