REGARDING your story ‘County revises road plans under pressure’ (August 8), I am a Mudeford resident and this is the first I have heard of the Stony Lane traffic proposals. What a stupid waste of taxpayers’ money.
I travel this route quite regularly and have never seen more than one or two people using the pavement under the bridge. To restrict the flow of traffic by installing traffic lights would in my opinion be a traffic congestion nightmare.
Work was carried out on the Stony Lane roundabout to split traffic travelling up the A35 towards Sainsbury’s or to continue towards Mudeford, Somerford and Christchurch, which did eliminate some of the traffic build-up.
But to introduce traffic lights at the bridge will not only reintroduce queues of traffic travelling down the B3347 towards Christchurch but introduce queues of traffic travelling down the Christchurch bypass towards the B3347 and A35 towards Sainsbury’s.
So just a word to the powers that be. Spend £140,000 on something more deserving and use your expenses to travel from Cuckoo Land to the real world.
